The Robot Threat

Posted: May 26, 2016 in Articles

A company called Foxconn, an electronic manufacturing company that supplies for Apple and Samsung, recently replaced 60,000 of its factory workers with robots. Apparently, lots of other companies are thinking of using robots instead of people as well especially with the threat of a $15.00/hour minimum wage requirement coming towards them.

I assume that it is less expensive for Foxconn to have robots instead of paying 60,000 workers, but it also puts 60,000 people out of jobs. Perhaps they could work in robot-producing factories!

Now, instead of just thinking about which field to go into, I suppose I’ll have to think about what job I think might be taken over by a robot eventually.
