A few weeks ago we started to hear noises in our garage and figured that there was something living in it.
Some of us were scared it might be a rat especially since a rat came to our yard a couple of summers ago.
It turns out, that the “something” was a brown mouse who must have come in when it got very cold. We were a little concerned, but at the time it wasn’t a big deal. We set a trap and caught the mouse. Yay!
Just to make sure, we set the trap again and much to our dismay we caught another mouse. And another, and another. Today we caught our eighth, I think. It’s hard to keep track.
Apparently a family of mice have been living in our garage and as we were catching them, the mice became so small that they wouldn’t even trigger the spring action. They could lick all the peanut butter off and not get caught. Then our dad came home with a new kind of trap. It has a very light trigger and the bait is way back in the trap, forcing the critters to actually step on the trigger and not just lick it.
It worked. We’re catching smaller mice and hopefully soon they will all be gone. Our problem was that we had some forgotten apples in a corner of the garage along with a small bag of chicken feed. That was bad.
Anyway, the good mouse trap is from the company Tomcat, and I believe this is the exact trap. So far it has helped our problem of mice being too light and perhaps it can help a problem of yours as well!
