The Skinning of the Squirrel

Coming soon to a theater near you!

No, actually, there isn’t a movie about a squirrel being skinned. Thank goodness for that; it would be really boring. But if someone did make a movie about skinning a squirrel, it would be rated NC-17, a rating which I had never even heard of prior to today. This rating means that no one who is seventeen or under can watch it in theaters, even if they have a parent/guardian with them.

Anyway, like I said, if there was a movie about skinning a squirrel it would be rated NC-17. That’s right.

I discovered this when I wanted to watch a YouTube video of a guy showing how to skin a squirrel. Up popped the youtube warning that you had to be 18 years old in order to watch it. Your gmail account has to have you registered as over 18 to watch it. Obviously, you can lie on your profile but you are supposed to be 18 before you watch a video of a squirrel being skinned.

I understand that some people might be offended by seeing a squirrel being skinned and cleaned, but the title clearly says what the guy is doing so why would they click on it? It doesn’t make sense to me that a child can be accompanied by a parent or guardian to see an R rated movie but not watch the cleaning of a squirrel.

Anyway, we’re going to try to catch some squirrels and eat them this spring, but I guess we won’t be filming it. We wouldn’t want to put out any obscene content on our blog 🙂 Our dad has eaten squirrel before when he was a boy, but the rest of us haven’t.

Here is the video I wanted to watch:

Oh – and here is a picture of some flowers our sister brought home from work. The store was going to throw these flowers away, so she brought them home and now we are enjoying them (well, our mother is enjoying them) instead of a trashcan.
