Bonsai Blue Spruce Tree

It was a balmy autumn afternoon when we were outside, working on cleaning up the garden after a good year. We were pulling up pepper plants, feeding any worms we found to the chickens, and disposing of dead and dying plants in the compost.

On one trip over to the compost bin, my mom noticed a small and blueish tree-like structure on the ground. It was a rare and highly sought after plant; one which we were very excited to see.

Okay, well, most of that was true, but it was not a rare plant. It was a blue spruce, which is pretty common around here, but we like them, which is why we dug it up and planted it in a pot. We would have run over it with the lawn mower where it was trying to grow eventually. Anyway, we weren’t sure if it was going to live, but it recently started putting out new growth!

Of course, it’s not really a bonsai. It’s just little 🙂 The pot is 3 3/4″ tall and the tree is 4″ tall. It’s really cute!
