Today my mom bought a new piano! Unfortunately not a real piano, but this one is still good. It was on sale and she got an additional 25% off or so.
The piano we got is an electric or digital piano from Yamaha (Arius YDP-181). It’s real enough, even though electric pianos are never quite the same as real pianos.
The main advantages of having an electric piano (at least in my mind) are that you can control the volume and they don’t ever need to be tuned. We have my mom’s old piano in our living room but it is in pretty bad shape and it would cost thousands to get it reworked. Also, our ground floor is basically one big room which means if someone is heartily playing the piano, they are probably bothering the person trying to talk on the phone or the person trying to study.
So this piano is upstairs in a bedroom! Anyone can play it just about any time they want to. Our dad is even going to try his hand at playing! The last time he played piano was when he was in college and he was just learning.
Anyway, there are a lot of buttons and there is also a hook for headphones and a jack for recording – should be a lot of fun 🙂
So right now, I am off to play the piano (if I can get my father off of it). When I get something pretty good, I’ll put it up!
