Thunderstorms and Corn

When our corn is getting ripe and pollination has to happen if we want to be eating it, the thing we dread most is a strong thunderstorm with crazy wind. Dry conditions, we can fix. Too much rain? Not a problem for corn unless you’ve planted in the ditch.

But a thunderstorm? Can’t do much about that. The other night, in the middle of the night, a few of us heard the winds begin and then a few of us heard the wind whip around the corner of our house.

And from years past, we knew this meant we might not want to look out of the window in the morning at our corn…..
