If Making People Working in a Bronze Mine Shows Power…

A while back, we wrote about a Shang dynasty king, Wu Ting, who was a good king. One thing we mentioned in the article was the fact that the Shang dynasty had great bronze works which showed the power they had. The bronze mines were not nice places to work in, and if the king had the power to command his people to work in them, it was significant.

This got us to thinking of all the things the  U.S. government can make its people do. If making somebody work in a bronze mine is a display of great power, then the U.S. government is really powerful. Anyone have any analogies out there?
