The Cost of Living

Our Old Screen Door

For the past week, we have been busy fixing things around the house and we realized that it takes a lot of work and money to live. Here are some of the things that have just gotten fixed/maintained: fixed leak in roof, changed oil in car, fixed air conditioner leak. Here are the things in the queue for immediate attention: get a new garage door (the one from the garage that leads into our house) and new door frame, replace the screen door on the front door, fix leaky refrigerator, paint window sills, paint our room, and fix the tiller. It’s a good thing our dad knows how to fix things and we can all paint, or we’d have to pay someone else to do all the work for us. As it is, we got someone else to do the roof since no one around here really likes getting up on the roof and someone had to come to fix the AC – but that was under warranty so it was free.

It sure costs a lot to live. Sadly enough, it probably costs just as much to die! It costs thousands of dollars to buy burial plots, coffins, and memorial services. It’s weird – it seems like it shouldn’t cost anything to die, but it does.
