MTD Push Mower Review

We got a new lawn mower for the upcoming grass mowing season, because our old mowers have been breaking steadily over the years. Lately, we’ve been getting a lot of rain, sunshine, and cooler weather and the grass needs to be cut what seems to be constantly. We have over an acre to cut and since we don’t own a tractor, that means we usually don’t finish the entire lawn at once – so maybe we are constantly cutting the grass.

Anyway, this mower is made by MTD and has a grass catcher that holds enough grass for about 5 minutes of mowing as well as a chute that shoots the grass out the side. We collect a bag or two for our compost piles and then take the bag off. The mower is red and a little on the heavy side compared to our other one, but it works really well. Here’s some other things we like about it:

It cuts evenly since the blades are actually sharp and aren’t dinged and danged up yet because of hitting rocks and sticks. So far we have had no troubles at all with it. There is no button required to prime the engine (you don’t have to push a button to prime the engine.) On our other mower, you have to push a red button before starting the engine. The engine on the new one starts easily and it runs smoothly, and it’s not too loud. You can buy it at Home Depot, but it is still a really good mower. It cost about $260 where we got it.

On a scale from one to ten, both Dink and I would rate it a nine. Of course, just about any new mower would rate high compared to the ones we were using.
