New Managers at Work

Posted: March 1, 2014 in Uncategorized

The owners of the restaurant I work at just retired a couple of days ago. They kept the restaurant running for over thirty years, which is very impressive, but they couldn’t run it forever I guess. On Friday, the new managers took over management of the restaurant. Every single employee was fired – and then rehired. 🙂 I think that they did that so that they could work out the taxes and legal stuff for all the employees.

Anyway, the new owners right away put up a sign at work that says that they don’t allow any breaks. No sitting breaks, no cigarette breaks, no friend breaks, etc. (They spelled friend wrong. They spelled it like freind.) Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that they put up all their rules a little early. Nobody wants to have somebody come into an establishment and put up a bunch of new rules for them to follow when they already know how to run everything well. It seems that the new owners could have waited a little while to first observe how the restaurant runs. If they had done that, they would have realized that nobody at my work takes breaks like the ones listed.

Having said that, I can understand why they put the sign up. They didn’t know how the restaurant ran, so they didn’t want to take any chances. Still, I think they put up their rules pretty abruptly. By the way, I like my new managers. I just think that they could have waited a while before they put up their rules.
