Let’s Go To The Movies

Posted: January 13, 2014 in Uncategorized

Each year, we usually see two movies – one in the summertime and one in the wintertime. Over Christmas break this year, there were actually two movies people in our family were seeing: “The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smog” and “The Hunger Games Catching Fire”. Most of us only saw one or the either and I went to see The Hobbit. I thought it was really  good. One complaint I had was that the combat is extremely unrealistic. One elf could take out 20 orcs in a minute – no problem. I also didn’t like the fact that almost all of the orcs in the movie were computer-generated. For us, that meant that they didn’t look as good.

Even though I didn’t see Catching Fire, I am reading the books and am currently on book three. They’re pretty good, and based on the books, if we ever rent the movies, I will probably watch them. We also watched the Lord of the Rings over Christmas break – the whole trilogy – extended versions. It was one of our goals to finish all of them before Niles went back to school, and we barely did, finishing the night before he left.

Watching the few movies that we watch is fun and good. We don’t think it’s a waste of time at all. If it is, we hope no one tells us.
