It Would Have Been Quicker To Walk

SAM_4959 I had to work on Sunday, but unfortunately I didn’t have a ride so I had to walk. Ordinarily, this would not be a big deal because I have walked to work on several occasions when there was nobody to drive me. However, it was snowing on Sunday, and it was snowing pretty hard. The picture on the left is a snapshot of the road when the snow was at its worst. It was pretty blinding to walk through the snow, but thankfully it didn’t last too long because my work is pretty close to home.

When I got to work, I found out that they were closing. They had apparently tried to contact me, but I didn’t get any of their messages since our landline is broken and I don’t have a cell phone. My boss graciously offered me a ride home; she lives in the same neighborhood. I got in her car, but instead of dropping me off at my house which is basically right down the road, we drove a relatively large distance and dropped off another worker first.

Then, on the way back, my boss wanted to stop at the grocery store to pick up ingredients for onion soup. So I waited in the parking lot with my boss’s husband and the dog. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I rode in the back with the dog the whole trip. Luckily, it wasn’t the kind of dog that jumps all over people. It just sat there. The only trouble I had was that it laid its head on my knee after a while and it tickled really bad.

Finally, my boss came out of the store and they dropped me off at my house. By the time that happened, it was almost late enough for me to have walked the distance twice, but I was thankful for the ride anyway. Small funny things happen in life 🙂
